DIY Day!

Good morning, lovelies! It has been an absolutely crazy week! we have celebrated the holidays with family 4 different times and let me tell you, I am frazzled and tired. I have been learning a lot about essential oils and how useful they can be in running a home and have found a few recipes for relaxation.

I sent a few blends off as gifts this year and they are getting rave reviews! I am using them around the house and they are really helping me be calmer and more focused. I will also include one for keeping your home germ free for this cold and flu season.

Soothing Bath Blend:
9 drops of tangerine EO
7 drops of lavender EO
2 drops of chamomile EO
I put these in a 10mL amber glass bottle and fill the rest of the way up with carrier oil (I have been using grapeseed). Drip a few drops into a hot bath and relax!

Energy Blend:
12 drops rosemary EO
8 drops lemon EO
Put in 10mL amber glass bottle and fill with carrier oil. Dab on temples for extra energy. I also rub some on the insides of my wrists (mostly because I like the way it smells.. :P) This could also be added to a vinegar/water solution for cleaning.

Thieves Blend:
10 drops rosemary EO
20 drops lavender EO
15 drops lemon eucalyptus EO
15 drops peppermint EO
25 drops orange EO
15 drops clove bud EO
With this one, I didn't add a carrier to the EOs. You can use it as a cleaning spray by adding one drop per each ounce of water in a spray bottle. Add EO blend first, then water. Shake vigorously before each use.

I found lots of other uses for Thieves Blend EO here.

Young Living oils would be my preference if I were made of money, I am using Eden's Garden oils for now. I am happy with the quality for the price, though I don't take them internally.

Brightest Blessings!

Merry Christmas!

Okay, so I don't really follow the Christian version of Christmas but I do celebrate it in the fact that my family all gets together and eats, and eats, and eats and enjoy each other's company. And then there's gifts....

The magicks are 3 and almost 18 months. And they get a lot of toys. A LOT OF TOYS. So every year around this time I find myself in major clutter mode. There are pieces and parts of things that I know will get lost. I try to bag up all the little bits and explain to the magicks that you MUST put pieces back in bags or totes. Think this works??? NOT AT ALL. lol.

I have come up with a brilliant way to remedy the clutter induced panic attacks. It is called Lemon Balm Extract. You guys, this stuff is truly magickal. It is a gift from the universe. Here is a cool article on it. Also, Dr. Oz has talked about it's uses.

I was a bit skeptical at first.. I have been dealing with anxiety as well as a good friend. I found a good deal on walgreens.com and ordered some for both of us. It calms me down the way a glass of wine does without the buzz. Its just wonderful. I can throw it in water and drink it and within 15 minutes I feel calmer. It's amazing. And it has a pretty pleasant taste as well, sort of an herbal tea flavor. My friend who suffers from massive panic attacks regularly but refuses to take chemical medications because of the way they make her feel loves it as well!

That's my Christmas gift to you all... Lemon Balm Calm. :)

Love and Light,

It's the End of the World As We Know It

Apparently the world didn't end overnight. It could still potentially happen I suppose. Then I wouldn't have to fold laundry or cook dinner. Which would be kind of cool, but the whole apocalypse/potential death thing would be less than awesome. So, I'm rooting for everything staying the same.

As for staying the same, I don't want everything to stay the same. Maybe this could be the end of ignorance, hate, greed, and all those things we would do better without. I think I am going to take advantage of the end of days by changing my mindset. Therefore, ending my old world and beginning my new.

There are tons of things within myself that I can do without. The thumbs down I give myself when I walk past a mirror? Yes, I can live without that. Getting frustrated with the magicks when they ask for a snack when I've just gotten to sit down? Absolutely. Being mad that my husband's new schedule isn't exactly what I want... TOTALLY.

I say that we all find some things that we don't need in our world and ditch them. Use this day to change your world!

Brightest Blessings on this wonderful Winter Solstice!!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

I'm back! It has been a positively bonkers time here in the magick household... The Baptist is working again, which is wonderful. The little magicks and I are adjusting to a new schedule so there have been some bumps in the road but we're back. I have missed writing so much.

So, HI!!! I missed you all!

I have realized that being a baby witchy leaves me with a lot to study and not a lot to write about every post since I am still trying to assimilate each thing I learn. This makes me frustrated, and I don't want to be frustrated any more than I have to be. I have kicked around the idea of scrapping this blog altogether, of changing it to just another mommy blog and leaving out my magick.. And none of that sat well with me. I came up with a plan... I am both magickal and a mommy. Why can't my blog be also? I don't stop being magick while I am being a mom, and I certainly don't stop being a mom while creating magick.

New plan... It's going to be a mash-up of magick mommy mayhem. DIY projects, recipes I am loving, and chat about all things magick. I feel like I will have more to chat about this way and you guys can get to know me from a different perspective, that is if you want to.. :P And I want to get to know you guys! (If you're still out there) I want you to comment, ask me questions, post funny stories... Come be my pal!

I am going to try to stick to a Tuesday, Thursday, one weekend day plan. I don't have seven days of interesting stuff to say, lol. I'll post my first "real" post on Thursday.

See you soon!!

Hibernation....

Merry Meet.

I think that my blog is going to hibernate at least until after the 1st of December. Things are so busy here, my business is taking off and I am in the process of trying to take on a second work from home position. The little magicks are having a more difficult time readjusting to the Baptist not being home.. I feel awful, as I know I will lose a couple of you at least. But I really need this time to find my center again. As a SAHM, as a wife, as a mom. I will be back, I promise.

This is all just taking a bit longer than I had planned.

Brightest Blessings to all of you during this season.

Back in the Saddle

Merry meet!

Okay, enough lounging around with the family already... I need to get back to writing! :P So, The Baptist has a couple of potential job opportunities and with that comes a great lessening in the stress around the house.

Yesterday was a fantastic day, the grandparents kept the magicks while The Baptist and I did some major housework. Then I opened all the windows in the house and smudged the heck out of it! I drew protective symbols in the smoke and really focused my energy on moving out the negativity and bringing in positive energy. At the suggestion of a good friend, I even chanted a bit, which I had never done. It really gave me a lot of focus, and distracted me from the "am I doing this right??" self-doubt that tends to creep in occasionally. I lit some Bergamot incense for prosperity, boy does that smell yummy!

The Baptist had a job interview so I made a big pot of soup and lit a fire in the fireplace. After dinner, just relaxing with the kids it hit me. The loss of The Baptist's job wasn't something taken away, it was a new opportunity given. I realized that money will come and money will go but I have happiness. Happiness with my life, with my husband, and with my kids. And no one can ever take that away.

So with that.... I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Readjusting

I know I am going to lose readers if I don't rush right back into my 3 posts a week... But we are readjusting a bit. It did come to fruition that The Baptist lost his job. So we're spending time as a family and keeping each other close. Doing things together and making sure every dinner is a home cooked meal from Mommy and Daddy. Really getting down to the important stuff. Also, The Baptist and I are mending some things in our relationship that kept getting pushed to the side while we tried to function through the exhaustion of the last year...

So, I am going to try to get us all on a schedule starting tomorrow. I don't know if I will have my normal Tuesday post up or not, I will have to play it by ear.. But I haven't forgotten about you, dear readers...

See you all soon. Blessed Be.

Ungrounded

Merry Meet..

I missed yesterday's Rock-in' Tuesday post due to a family emergency. I can't talk about it with people in my mundane life so I will talk about it with you, dear readers.

The Baptist could be losing his job today. Through a series of mistakes that were completely not his fault, he could be unemployed by the end of the hour. Note: I place blame where blame is due. This project has been the bane of our existence for over a year now. And it has been a string of disasters... And it actually isn't his fault. But, he's the boss. So when something is messed up, he gets blamed. So now we will all pay for other's mistakes with our livelihood and insurance. I have two children under the age of 5. I also have a psychiatric condition that is well controlled with medication I can't afford without said insurance. I feel like we are paying for so many mistakes that are not in The Baptist's control.

I feel completely out of control. Big magick keeps asking why daddy is sad. He knows something is going on. Little magick has just decided he's going to ride out this storm latched to my breast. We're nursing as much as we did when he first arrived. I am about to snap from all of the stress. I feel like the ground is falling away from me and we are swirling on the winds of the great unknown. I feel...... ungrounded.

If you have some energy to lend us today, we would really appreciate it. I sent protection stones with him to his meeting and I am wearing my runes. I cast a protection spell over him the other day. I feel like I should be DOING something more but I just don't know what. So if you have any ideas, please, I would love to hear them.

I will try to keep my posts upbeat from here on out. I appreciate each and every one of you that reads. Thanks for listening.

Sunday Social: Books

Sunday Social

This is something I have never tried before... So I'm going to be social today! And let you guys in on a little bit of mundane, well sort of, life. :)

This week's questions:
My favorite childhood book: Um, I am a huge bookworm, like huge. I read every Nancy Drew novel over one summer vacation. The first novel I ever read was Charlotte's Web. My favorite little kid book is The Giving Tree. So I gave you several.. Like I said, I am a total bookworm.

Favorite book lately: Let's see.. I will answer this in two parts.. My favorite witchy book is a toss up between Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Stones, Crystals, and Metals and A Practical Guide to THE RUNES by Lisa Peschel. My favorite non-witchy books are Thy Fearful Symmetry by Richard Wright, it was a kindle freebie and I couldn't put it down! I am a huge huge huge fan of Daniel Quinn. Ishmael and The Story of B are two of my favorite books ever!

Book you wish you could live in: It would have to be one of my witchy books, because otherwise I read as an escape. So I wouldn't want to be in any of the for fun books because, apparently, I am weird. lol.

If you could be any character from any book and why: Sheesh, this is a hard one... How about Sookie Stackhouse from the True Blood series? Why, cause I think it would just be fun... And it so isn't me. lol.

Favorite book turned movie: The Color Purple. Hands down. Phenomenal book, phenomenal movie... So many movies lose the feeling and poetry in translation..

Favorite magazines: I don't read magazines. Again, cause I'm weird. lol.

Are the Magicks Magick?

Merry Meet!

Thanks a witchy life for the photo!
I am so torn on whether or not to include the boys in my witchiness. Big magick is obsessed with birthday parties and blowing out candles. Any time I do a spell involving candles, he begs to blow them out. So after profuse apology to the universe, I let him. And as soon as his attention is diverted, I light them again. Which then leads to more begging, and more re-lighting. So, it's not surprising that a few of my spells have somewhat missed the mark recently. Haha.

He shows a bit of talent as an empath. He is exceptionally aware of emotion and when people are not feeling well. Which, at his age, is a little surprising. Even when he was younger he was very in tune with people emotionally. It is very hard to hide stress from him. Believe me, I have tried.

Little magick is showing an ability to see spirits. We had a really cool thing happen the other day, little magick and I were home alone. I was washing dishes and he was playing quietly in the floor. A cold breeze hit me in the face, not once, but twice. I jokingly said, "If there's anyone here, I am going to need more than you blowing my hair around." Little magick turned and walked toward the front door saying "hi!" over and over. He looked back at me, grinning.

It seems that they both have a bit of natural ability. It will be interesting to see how that turns out. I don't purposely include them in work, but they're always around. Little magick sits on my hip while I boil herbs for prosperity. Big magick likes to look at my stones and blow out candles... I guess my magicks are magick after all.

Best Cold Medicine..... EVER.

Merry Meet!

So, for the past week and a half we've all been bouncing around this almost cold business. Finally it has settled on who else? The parents, of course! The Magicks are running around like crazed monkeys hopped up on Mountain Dew because they feel better.... and we feel worse. Lol.

To escape the madness for a while, I popped over to a local new age shop. She has the most awesome collection of herbs, I knew I could find something there. We chatted for a bit about the household sickies and she suggested that I make Elderberry Syrup. She said it was delicious and kept her healthy through a particularly bad flu season. I was sold. Here is the recipe that I got from Crunchy Betty (if you don't follow her blog, you should!! www.Crunchybetty.com)

Elderberry-Echinacea Syrup Recipe
1/2 c. dried elderberries (or 1 cup fresh)
2 Tbsp dried echincacea (it’s perfectly fine to open an echinacea tea bag and use that)
1 Tbsp dried ginger root (or 2 Tbsp fresh ginger root)
1-2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half (I used ground, about 1/2 tsp)
1-2 Tbsp dried peppermint (my own addition)
Several dried cloves (also, my own addition.. I think I threw in half a dozen or so)
3 c. distilled water
3/4 c. raw honey

Directions:
First, sterilize everything you will be using to make your syrup. This is just good practice since you don't want any little bacteria monsters hanging out in your yummy syrup! Boiling all utensils for about 10 minutes will do the trick!

Now, take everything EXCEPT THE HONEY, DON'T PUT THE HONEY IN THE POT!!!! and dump it in your pot, stir and stir. Get your mixture warmed up to a simmer, just let everything go for about 45 minutes or until the liquid is reduced by half.. Mine didn't take quite 45 minutes, so keep an eye on it. You'll also want to stir occasionally and mash the elderberries against the side of the pot with your spoon to really release their goodness.

After the liquid is reduced, you'll need to strain it. Use a fine mesh sieve or cheese cloth. Crunchy Betty used her french press, clever girl...  You will end up with a dark brownish-red liquid. It looks kind of like prune juice but it smells divine. Do not drink it yet... I hear it is pretty tart at this stage.

Thanky Crunchy Betty!
Let it cool just a bit and then stir into your honey. The way I went about this was to put my honey in the jar while the liquid cooled and then pour the elderberry liquid right into the jar. Then stir and stir and stir!! Make sure everything is stirred up so you don't end up with the honey and juice separating.

I let it cool for a while then put my lid on and popped it in the fridge. The whole family loves it! Little Magick said "please!!" as soon as he saw the jar come out of the fridge this morning!

Wellnessmama.com suggests dosage of 1/2-1 tsp for kids, and 1/2-1 Tbsp for adults. If you get sick with a cold or flu, take normal dosage every 2-3 hours until symptoms clear.

I am LOVING learning to heal myself and my family with gifts from the Earth. This is such a wonderful journey to be on... I can't wait to be able to get rid of the everyday otc medicines we all stock. I will be restocking my medicine cabinet with some fte medicines! From The Earth, baby!!

Just so you know, I am not a doctor. I don't even play one on TV. If you are seriously ill, please seek appropriate medical attention.

Rockin' Tuesday

Merry Meet!

It is my favorite post of the week! It's Rockin' Tuesday, where I take a stone or crystal and give you a little bit of info on it! I get most of my information from Scott Cunningham and crystalsandjewelry.com. Next week the format will be a bit different as I have found a cool new resource, lunasgrimoire.com. But, battling a sore throat today, I am not going to try to go as in depth as I will start to next week.

Our stone today is the diamond!

Thanks Diamond-key.com
The diamond is associated with the Sun and the element of Fire. It is used for protection and courage and also to promote spirituality.

A diamonds flashing nature has caused it to be regarded as a stone of protection. It is also a stone of courage, with a history of being set in steel rings with the stone touching the skin in Roman times.

Diamonds can be worn to promote spirituality. It can be used in meditation and scrying.

Diamonds are not love stones, they are however, worn to ensure fidelity.

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

Don't Stick Yer Politics Where They Aren't Welcome!

Merry Meet!

Courtesy of renew-daily
Ah, so I am a little frazzled at present. I hate politics. Haaaaaaate politics. Loathe. Abhor. Facebook has become treacherous, thinly veiled threats posted by this person at that party, everyone taking a side on what can never be agreed on.. And I normally stay out. Normally.

This election has me spooked. I am a liberal. I mean, have you ever heard of a Republican Witch? If you're out there, please introduce yourself!! I have TONS of questions! And I swear, I am not being patronizing or condescending. I really want to understand how that works. Back to the point. I am liberal. I think your body is your business to do whatever you want with. I don't want you all up in my lady bits, so I will stay out of yours. Marry whom you want. So long as your faith doesn't harm others, practice it freely! And *gasp* I even think that public assistance is good when it helps a mom feed her kids while she's working her way through college...All of this talk of "legitimate rape" and the Christian right being the only right way has me terrified. I may be considering moving this little band of heathens across a border if the election swings a certain way, no joke.

So, this morning there was a thread on Facebook that I jumped into swinging. It was about an issue that really should only be discussed by men when this statement is coming outta their mouth, "you know what? I don't know what it feels like to be your gender, so I will keep my big oafish mouth shut." It ended up being a moot point because the gentleman, I use that term loosely, ended up admitting that he is using and living on some of the systems he so vehemently is against. And he's a man. So he has no right to argue. I am pretty sure that my dear readers can figure out the topic of the argument. I just wanted to say to him, "Don't stick yer politics where they aren't welcome!!! LIKE MY VAGINA!"

Sorry for the angry, ranty post. Thanks for letting me get it out. No more, I promise.

Short unscheduled vacation

Merry Meet!

Sorry I haven't posted anything this week after Tuesday! My house has caught a cold. I am spending time with the Magicks, trying to keep the flow of snot to a minimum. I will be back next week starting with our weekly Rock-in' Tuesday post.

Rock-in' Tuesday

Merry Meet!!

It's Tuesday! This is quickly becoming my favorite post of the week. I love crystals and stones so much.. I am taking most of my information from Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic. I have also included an interesting tidbit here and there from the crystals and jewelry website they have a cool pdf that you can download and use for quick reference.

I am going to go backward today and talk about Citrine. I should have done it last week but my brains were somewhere else. lol. Its the month of Samhain and orange is all the rage. So let's start this month off right with a brilliant orange crystal!

Photo credit to beyond the psychic veil
Citrine:
It is related to the element of Fire and the Sun. It is used to promote success and abundance. It can also help to prevent nightmares.

It's nickname is the "merchant's stone" because it helps promote success in business. Place a stone in the cash register of your business to bring in more customers. Along with bringing abundance, it encourages generosity with the new prosperity.

Wear this beautiful stone at night to help improve sleep and prevent nightmares.

This is one stone that my collection is lacking! I need to go rock shoppin'! Have you used a citrine to help your business? Has it helped? Share your experiences!

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

Color Magick

Merry Meet!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! I am enjoying the much cooler temperatures here and the feeling that autumn really is on it's way. My absolute favorite time of year! All the beautiful colors as the leaves change and shed their summer greens. Blazing reds and yellows just make me feel more alive. And certainly more witchy! So, for the fun fall colors we're going to chat about color magick.

Thanks moon and shadow!
Here we go!

Pink is for affection, friendship, and children's magick. So light a pink candle to send some good vibes to a friend in need.

Red is, of course, the color for love and passion. It's also good for courage. The element of Fire claims this color. Date night? Wear your sexy red dress of course!

Orange helps with increasing energy and vitality. It also represents the harvest. This is the perfect time of year to display bright orange pumpkins to celebrate the harvest and your own personal blessings.

Green can be used for prosperity, health, or gardening. It is also representative of the Earth. I enjoy lighting green candles for continued prosperity and health.

Blue represents Water, peace and healing. Paint your bedroom blue for tranquility.

Purple is great for increasing your personal power and psychic power. Wear purple during spellwork for an added boost.

Brown is great for garden magick. Simply putting your hands in the soil is a great way to work with this color.

Black represents protection and helps banish negativity. Light a black candle to get rid of negative energies in your space.

White is an all purpose color. It can be substituted for any other color. It also promotes peace, calm, and happiness. White candles lit in your house can help keep the peace. And my favorite wine is white wine, it always makes me feel peaceful.. lol.

Silver can be used to represent the Goddess and the Moon. Silver jewelry can be worn during Full Moon spellwork.

Gold is representative of the Sun and the God. Wear it when you need the sun's boost of energy.

You can use color magick in your wardrobe, in your candles, in the decoration of your house. Colors are powerful and useful. How do you use color magick to enhance your daily life?

Yeah, But Why?

Merry Meet!

"Yeah, but why?" This is a question I get from Big Magick, 3 years old, a lot. Sometimes it gets on my nerves, sometimes it gives me the opportunity to explain things that he otherwise wouldn't have had a chance to learn about. A reader mentioned to me that in the Jewish faith, this week begins a time of reflection (and fasting, but I am not nice on no food.). So, in honor of that, I will answer my sweet son's question, "yeah, but why?"

I tried to be Christian, I tried. I tried to read the bible, tried out some different churches, asked questions. But it just never felt right. It was like trying to wear shoes someone else had broken in first. The shoes looked like they would fit, but just won't ever be comfortable. I thought maybe any belief system just wasn't for me at all. Maybe I was Athiest? But that didn't feel right either. I know there is something. I just never could put my finger on it. Until I came across Paganism. It fit like the most perfect pair of blue jeans, comfortable as if someone else had broken them in for me, but made in a way that they could only have been made for my body. I finally had something to believe in.

But why? Why do I believe in magick when I couldn't believe in other things? I think to me, magick and Paganism just make sense, what you put out is what you get back. Makes sense. All things are connected and therefore responsible for each other. Makes sense. Focusing energy in a specific direction to affect change. Makes sense. To me, it just makes sense to light candles in gratitude or carry a specific stone in your pocket. To me, it makes sense to send healing energy to people who aren't well. All of those things just seem to work for me.

I try to be the best person I can be. The best mom, wife, friend. Not the 'perfect' person, the most morally responsible, genuine person I can be. Magick allows me to be better than I was before. Not because I am 'magically' absolved from wrong doing or morally somehow better because I identify deity within myself. Just because it makes me happier believing what I believe. It makes me feel like I can affect positive change in my environment. It makes me the best version of me.

So, dear reader, that's but why. :)

Bright Blessings.

Rock-in' Tuesday

Merry Meet!

It's my favorite day of the week, Rock-in' Tuesday! Today we are going to chat about an exceptionally versatile stone, Clear Quartz! I will also list some of the more popular colored quartz at the end.
Courtesy of galleries.com

Clear Quartz (or Quartz Crystal):
Because of it's varying colors and inclusions, it is ruled by both the Sun and Moon, and relates to the elements Fire and Water. A stone that wears many hats, it can be used for Healing, Spiritual Development, and Lactation, among other things.

Quartz crystal can be placed on painful parts of the body to promote healing, it can also safely be added to infusions or tinctures to make them more effective. Quartz can also be used to cure headache.

On the topic of health, Quartz Crystals can also be helpful for lactating mothers. Have the mother carry a quartz crystal (perhaps in a necklace so it is near the breasts) or place a crystal on the baby to help lactation and digestion of breast milk.

Clear Quartz can also be used on the altar to amplify your magick. It can be placed under pillows to aid in psychic communication during sleep, and it can be used as an instrument in scrying.

A few other notable types of crystal quartz:
Herkimer Diamonds, which are small double terminated quartz crystals can be used in place of diamonds.
Rose Quartz, a love stone, promotes peace and fidelity in relationships.
Smokey Quartz can help elevate mood.

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

The Broom Closet

Merry Meet!

Are you in the broom closet? Know anyone who is? There are so many reasons to hide your faith, not only Paganism or being a Witch.. So much intolerance in the world that sometimes we feel pressured to conform to societal norms just so that we can practice in peace. I know I do. I am not a product of intolerance, thankfully. I just know my family wouldn't understand. I use broad terms like 'the universe' and don't ever reference 'God' directly so I believe that they have an idea that I am a bit different, I always have been.
Cosettefromjupiter.blogspot.com

I found an old book floating around my middle school library, it was a spell book. A friend and I kept it checked out the entire year, and vowed to pay the fine for 'losing' the book at the end of the year. I think that it ended up being returned and probably taken out of circulation once the head librarian realized what it was. In my teen years, I was drawn to stones and their meanings. I also had a deck of rune cards that I became pretty adept at reading. All of these things stayed hidden, not out of fear that I would be punished, but out of a realization that it was different from what my parents believed in. And I wasn't one to rock the boat.

Even as an adult, married with two boys, I am in the broom closet pretty securely. I have a few close friends that know and of course my husband, but that's it. And really, I am okay with it. One day perhaps I will come out and shout it from the rooftops, but for now I'm good with not a lot of people knowing.

Are you in the broom closet? Happily or not? Comment and let me know how you feel about keeping things secret or letting it all hang out!

Merry Mabon!

Merry Meet!

It's Mabon, or the Autumn Equinox, when day and night are of the same length. The crops are being harvested and we are looking forward to sweaters, falling leaves, and the general beauty of autumn. It is a time to reflect and express gratitude for the sunlight, the bountiful crops, and all of the blessings you have enjoyed along the year.

Mabon is a great time for spells focusing on balance and harmony. It is also a time of change, making protection, wealth, and prosperity spells a good choice.

Image from Owlsdaughter.com
It is our Thanksgiving. I am thankful for so many things this Mabon. My husband and boys, our home, being able to finally take charge of my health and healing both the inside and outside of myself. The opportunity to try out being a stay at home mom...Friends both near and far that I couldn't make it without, I love you ladies more than I could ever express. New friends that I am making through embracing who I am fully, thanks for making me feel less alone in the world! I truly am fortunate. This evening I plan on lighting a candle for the universe, in gratitude, and lighting one for the continued prosperity of my family.

What are your plans for this Autumn Equinox? Any special meals planned or rituals? I am researching recipes for dinner tonight. Just because The Baptist and the Magicks don't practice with me, doesn't mean they can't reap the benefit of a meal created in gratitude!

Merry Mabon all, and Blessed Be!

Rock-in' Tuesday!

Merry Meet!

It is Tuesday! Its quickly becoming my favorite day of the week because I get to share with you a little more about the magickal properties of stones and crystals. Check out this post and this post for my other Rock-in' Tuesday entries!

Carnelian:
Carnelian is ruled by the Sun and the element of fire. It is a protective stone, it guards against those who try to read your thoughts. It also helps the wearer be more courageous. Wearing or carrying carnelian can help with public speaking. It calms and strengthens the voice and helps you be more eloquent in your speech.

Carnelian is one of my favorite stones. I am just drawn to it. Please share your experiences with the beautiful stone!

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

Following Your Path Part 2

Merry meet!

Sorry about the impromptu day off yesterday. I had a busy end to the week and was positively exhausted. And the house was a disaster. I haven't figured out how to magick my broom and vacuum cleaner to life yet so I had to do it myself. ;) Okay, back to business...

Thank you Glances At Nature
Divination I completely believe in. But not in a 'your-life-is-already-written-out' way. I believe that people can see paths you take if you choose one thing over another. It can absolutely change if you change your mind. For lack of a better explanation, the way Alice sees the future in the movie Twilight. Did I just go there???? lol! I have always felt this way, it wasn't inspired by a film, but it does express what I believe in.

I am horrible at Tarot. I have owned 2 decks and was useless with both. I had a set of rune cards as a teen that I was pretty accurate with so I think when I am ready to go into study for divination I will absolutely go that direction first and use rune stones. I can't see myself scrying yet or using a pendulum. Perhaps in the future, I have lots of witchy years ahead of me.

Spell work is something I am absolutely in love with. I love that I can pour myself into something, and put it in motion through herbs, plants, oils, and stones. I have a great friend who is my herbal guru, she always has answers to my questions and is really getting me into the use of essential oils. I have really enjoyed the little bit of spell work I have tried so far. It really helps me feel in tune with my witchiness. It puts action to my thoughts. I really believe spell work is like prayer, concentrated energy toward a positive goal.

So I will share a little prosperity charm that I learned from one of the books I have been reading... It is exceptionally easy! All you do is fill a small pot halfway with water and set it to boil. When it starts boiling, add allspice and clove (you can also use just one or the other), either whole or ground. I like to use whole personally, it is what I have on hand. While it boils, speak a rhyme thanking the god(s)/universe and asking for prosperity. I prefer not to share my exact rhyme. When the water has almost boiled away. Turn off the stove, let the remaining water and spices cool and return it to the earth, thanking your god/goddess. The best time to try this out is a Thursday or Sunday.

I hope you have fun with this and experience lots of prosperity! See you tomorrow!

Taking the day off..

Merry Meet!

I know that I am supposed to be telling you all kinds of fun things today. But I am beat. I have had a super busy week and it wouldn't be fair to half-ass a post about something that could be really awesome. So, I am going to do my best to work on today's post between naps and housework I need to catch up on and publish it tomorrow for ya!

Finding your path

Merry Meet!
Amazing photography courtesy of High Life Images

Today I want to talk about finding your path. It seems to me, the biggest hurdle when you leave mainstream religion for our road less travelled, is finding YOUR path. There are so many ways to go, you can be Wicca, Pagan, a Witch. My first thought starting out was, 'isn't it all the same?'. If you are Wiccan, then you are a pagan who practices witchcraft, right? No. Not even close.

You have to look at things like pantheons. Do you feel drawn to a polytheistic path? If so, is it Celtic or Egyptian, Greek or Roman? But what if you don't feel drawn to many deities? Is there only one god? Two? Three? What if even then you don't believe in a 'god' of sorts. That there isn't a mystical person or people running it all? That's where I fall. I believe in nature, in the interconnectedness of all living things. We, all togther, are divine. I don't know how I got here. But in my heart, that's how I interpret the divinity.

After I spent time contemplating the whole god(s) situation, I started to look at things like crystals, healing, divination, herbs, spellwork. Trying to figure out where I stood with them. Crystals, oh man, I love rocks. As you've seen from my Rock-in' Tuesday posts, I love rocks. Since I can remember I have loved rocks. The way they are each absolutely individual, they way they are shaped by the other stones in their environment, they way their environment shaped them. They have distinct personalities. Some rocks want to be touched, carried with you, worn. Some, don't. They want to be left alone. I have a personal goal to learn how to heal using the energy of crystals. I will be saving my money to take some coursework from Hibiscus Moon Crystal Academy. Her classes look ah-mazing! I can't wait!

In the interest of not taking up all your time discussing the rest, I will save that for my Sunday post... I will talk about what I feel with divination, herbs, and spellwork. All of which I am excited to learn about! Maybe I will even throw in a little charm that I used that worked beautifully!

Rock-in' Tuesday!

Merry Meet!

It's Tuesday! Which can only mean one thing, Rock-in' Tuesday! Like I said last week, I love rocks! River rocks, semi-precious, any kind, I just love them all!

Bloodstone:
It's planetary association is Mars and it is associated with the element of Earth. It is a powerful healing stone. Bloodstone is also helpful in matters of courage and strength. According to crystalsandjewelry.com, bloodstone can help with healing emotional trauma, blood disorders, and recovery post surgery. Scott Cunningham tells us that bloodstone is popular among athletes because of its ability to increase physical strength. And bloodstone also can be worn to lend courage and calm fears. An all around powerful stone!

Do you have any specific experience with bloodstone that you would like to offer? Please, add it in the comments!

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

Merry Meet!

I have an actual FaceBook page for my 'in the broomcloset' life but I started a new one for my Magick life so that I can connect with other witchy people without worry of attack from my non-witchy friends. Some are very religous people, I love 'em anyhow. We all have to find our own path, right?

So look for me, I am Magick Allie there. If you find a winter scene with a redhead walking away as the profile pic, you've found me! Send me a friend request and let's chat Magick!!

Have an awesome weekend! And tune in on Tuesday for Rock-in'Tuesday, my weekly crystal post!

p.s. If you like what you are reading so far, mention my blog on yours if you don't mind! I need some followers so we can have all kinds of witchy fun!

Meet my magickal family!

Merry Meet!
I am suffering a bit of writers block due to some intense crystal study this week! I am trying to create my notes in an easily accessible file on the computer, which ended up taking the shape of a 50 page document translated from my written notes. I got a little excited, lol. Each Tuesday I will be sharing some of my Rock Doc in the form of Rock-in Tuesday.

Today, I am going to talk about the 'boys' part of my blog. I have two little magicks, big magick who is 3 and a half and so so sweet. He loves cars and trains, Caillou (ugh!), and his mommy. He is fascinated with 'magic tricks' he carries a sparkly pencil around 'poofing' things. I think it's adorable. My little magick is full of piss and vinegar already, lol. He is 14 months old. He's going to have it his way or no way. He enjoys harassing his big brother, anything I am eating, and airplanes.

The biggest magick in the house isn't magick at all, he's Baptist. So from here on out, we'll be calling him The Baptist. Luckily he doesn't spend his days testifying or anything... He just likes what he believes in and we have a mutual respect for each other's beliefs. The Baptist spends his days cheffing. That does not mean we eat well, I do an insane amount of cooking to be married to a chef.. lol.

I am so fortunate to have The Baptist. We are going to raise the boys with both sets of beliefs when they're ready. Big magick is getting small doses as he's seen some candles lit and loves to blow them out. Sorry Goddess!!! But you're a mom too, so you know how it goes!

Hang out, I will be working on some ideas, new post on Saturday! And don't forget to stop back by to Rock-in Tuesday for your weekly dose of rock! :)

Rock-in' Tuesday

One of my most favorite things in the world are rocks. I have been obsessed with them from as early as I can remember. In grade school I used to stuff rocks from the playground in my pockets to take home. I would wash them, play with them, I had boxes and boxes of rocks.

When I chose my path, stones were one of the first things I gravitated to! I am having so much fun studying stones and cannot wait to start building my collection! Each Tuesday we will take a semi-precious stone and talk about its planetary and element association and a couple of the particular powers it has. I am taking much of my info from Scott Cunningham's 'Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, & Metal Magic' as well as www.crystalsandjewelry.com. Let's get started!!

Amethyst:
Amethyst is associated with the planets Jupiter and Neptune and the element of Water. Amethyst is useful in overcoming addictions, psychic abilities, dreams, and peace. It can be worn against the skin to help overcome addictions such as alcoholism.Try keeping a piece of amethyst with your tarot deck to help increase its energy. A piece of amethyst can be placed under the pillow at night to help aid sleep and fend off nightmares.  Cunningham suggests holding a piece of amethyst in your receptive hand (non-dominant hand) and let the stone's calming, peaceful vibrations calm you.

So grab a pretty amethyst and spend some time getting to know it! Let's talk about what reactions you've had to your amethyst!

Just a reminder, I am not a doctor. If you have serious health conditions, you should seek the attention of a licensed medical professional. I truly believe in the power of stones for healing, but I also believe in medical attention when it is necessary.

Harm None?

Merry Meet!

Today I want to start with a quote. Because I am struggling a bit with some of my new learning. Perhaps you could help me?

"Normal is an illusion. What is normal to the spider is chaos for the fly." -Morticia Adams

I understand that I should only do spellwork for myself. And that I shouldn't do any work out of anger or frustration or revenge. Which makes complete sense to me. But when I do any spellwork, won't it change everything? Perhaps I did a spell for prosperity. I then receive more business than usual from my job. Wouldn't that take business away from someone, somewhere in the world?

Am I thinking too broadly? Am I assuming responsibility for the whole universe? Which is sort of presumptuous of me but do I not have a responsibility to all things to be judicious in my work?

Just a thought for today.. How do I do things in my life to affect positive change without negatively effecting others? How exactly do you harm none?

Blog under construction!

Merry Meet!

I am no good at the designing of blogs. I know nothing about codes and pixels, completely new to clip art and blogging in general. So if you think my layout is less than exciting, I wholeheartedly agree! So I am under construction until I find the right layout and the right look.

Thanks for sticking with me through the bland period!!

Meet Me, Magick Allie!

Merry Meet!

I want this blog to chronicle my journey away from the mainstream and into my studies on magick. I have always felt like there was something pulling me to be different. I think it started with my love of rocks. I would spend the entirety of my recess in elementary school collecting rocks from the playground. Squirreling them away in my pockets to take out and wonder over later. I didn't care if they were brown creek rocks, they were special to me. I have always felt this way. I have always loved the energy that comes from the earth.

I wasn't raised in a particularly religious household, my parents didn't go to church so I wasn't forced into religion. I had friends that tried to pull me in, telling me that it was wrong to not be Christian. That not believing in God would send me straight to Hell and that it didn't matter what I did, I was a sinner. That just didn't jive with me. I am not inherently bad because I am alive, or female for that matter. So after a few attempts to go to church and see what it was all about, I realized it just didn't fit with me.

It wasn't until my mid-20s that I made a friend that was Wicca. She and I talked at length about how I felt like there was something but it certainly wasn't a Christian point of view. She lent me "The Power of the Witch" by Laurie Cabot. I dove into it and it felt right. I understood what she was talking about, just knowing you were different. So I went out and found a magick store and bought as many books as I could find. I read and read. Started researching deities. Started buying candles. Immersed myself in anything magickal I could find. I was alive. I had something to believe in. It was wonderful.

After a while, my friend and I parted ways. She was a fun hipster who hung out at bars and wooed band boys. I was married and planning on babies. Life took over, procreating should have made me more passionate about the magick in my life, but I just found I had no time. As we planned for our second baby, we realized that the spare bedroom had to be converted from office space to living space. After really struggling with how I felt about magick, the books, and where to put the baby, I donated all of my books to Goodwill. Knowing I had nowhere to put them and even less time to study them, I let them go. So that maybe someone else out there could feel alive like I did for a while.

I knew I missed the magick. But I didn't realize how much I missed it until a mommy group friend introduced her to a friend of hers. We hit it off and I realized what I had been missing! I started to feel alive again. Like I wasn't a freak for feeling this way. I felt like I had come home. It was wonderful. So, I have started slowly rebuilding my book collection. Starting my Book of Shadows again. I have even tried a little charm, and it worked! I still have magick in me! I am so thrilled to be witchy again!

So, this is me, Magick Allie. I hope you enjoy my little ramblings!
